Lac Guillaume-Delisle

Located in Quebec, Canada this beautiful area is the proposed place for the new national park.  This lake is 61km long, 22km wide and is triangular shaped.  It is seperated from the Hudson Bay by a narrow ridge of rocks.  The main passage way from Lac Guillaume-Delisle to the Hudson Bay is "Le Goulet" (le goulet in english means narrow or bottleneck).  Though it is only 5km wide, it causes strong currents in the lake.  It also causes fluctuating water levels with a range of about 50cm. This passage doesn't freeze over the winter.

Lac Guillaume-Delisle is french meaning "Richmond Gulf".
Around this lake are mountainous areas.  Lac Guillaume-Delisle's topography is caused by 2 geographic faults running parallel to the coast.  These faults have risen the cliffs on the west side of the lake.

The mountains along the perimeter of the lake create the perfect home for many species of animals and birds.
Lac Guillaume-Delisle is 1168km east of the center of Canada.  To this day, there isn't any national parks in Quebec and this national park would be a great contribution to the beauty of Quebec.  The establishment of a new national park in the Lac Guillaume-Delisle area will require the concurrence of the Government of Quebec, the people of Umiujaq and Makavik Corporation.
